Health & Nutrition for All
Building Healthier Communities
Ensuring every individual, regardless of location, has access to quality health care and nutrition
About
Caritas Kumba Health and Nutrition activities are committed to improving the health and nutrition outcomes for vulnerable populations through both emergency response and sustainable health programs. Activity focus areas include maternal and child health, combating infectious and non-infectious diseases, and addressing environmental health issues.
We strive to ensure that communities, no matter how remote, have access to essential health services, including quality care, preventive health measures, and life-saving treatments. The drive is to raise awareness about health issues, reduce mortality and morbidity, and provide continuous relief ensuring that all individuals, regardless of location, have access to quality health care. Our strategies is on deploying mobile clinics with essential medical supplies, recruiting and training of young community health workers, enabling them to detect diseases early, report and respond effectively.
In collaboration with WFP and UNICEF, activities have been geared towards massive screening for malnutrition and provision of critical supplementary food like Super Cereals and Plumpy Nuts. Since the onset of the socio-political crisis, Health and Nutrition programs have reached over 50,000 beneficiaries, particularly children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers, by offering essential medications and mosquito nets as well as Mama kits to support vulnerable women during child birth.

Community members are recruited and trained as health workers. These CHWs are trained to detect diseases early, report cases, and respond effectively to health emergencies. This ensures communities are equipped to manage their own health needs, leading to long-term improvements in public health outcomes.
