About Caritas Kumba

Introduction

Caritas Kumba, a faith-based organization rooted in the principles of Catholic social teachings, and has been at the forefront of providing humanitarian aid and community development programs in the South West Region of Cameroon since its establishment in 2016. With a vision to build a just world where everyone can live in dignity and where God’s given natural resources and the environment are sustainably managed for the entire human race. Caritas Kumba aligns with the mission of the Catholic Church to serve the underprivileged and advocate for charity and justice globally. Our focus is on promoting integral human development, ensuring that individuals in the most disadvantaged communities can thrive and live with peace and dignity.

Over the years, Caritas Kumba has demonstrated its commitment to assisting the poor and vulnerable, regardless of their background or belief, through a wide range of humanitarian and development initiatives. Caritas Kumba has reached over 500,000 direct beneficiaries across different projects, highlighting our ability to deliver effective and sustainable solutions to those in need.

Caritas Kumba has engaged in a wide range of humanitarian and community development activities aimed at addressing the root causes of poverty and violence, while promoting social cohesion through:

  • Livelihoods Projects: Empowering communities and vulnerable individuals through various Skills acquisition and Income Generating initiatives.
  • Social Cohesion Promotion: Encouraging dialogue and exchange of sustainable ideas to foster peace and development.
  • Advocacy and Information Sharing: Addressing the root causes of poverty and violence through advocacy and information dissemination.
  • Humanitarian Aid and Community Development: Providing essential services in water, sanitation, food security, health, nutrition, child protection, and gender-based violence prevention.

Throughout its endeavor, Caritas Kumba has maintained lasting partnerships with a couple of UN Agencies like IOM, WFP, UNICEF, WHO and OCHA among others and other INGOs like Action Against Hunger, Caritas Germany, CRS while collaborating with other national NGOs like LUKMEF, AMEF and the International Network of Caritas.

Our work spans healthcare, education, food security, and Child Protection and GBV Prevention, ensuring that those most affected by conflict, poverty, and disaster receive the care and resources they need to rebuild their lives and thrive.
